About the Role

Qualys is seeking an experienced Lead Implementation Engineer to join our Global Implementation organization.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role responsible for leading the successful deployment, integration, and adoption of Qualys Enterprise Cybersecurity solutions across complex enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on implementation engineer with proven experience deploying enterprise cloud-based SaaS security platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong customer engagement skills and is responsible for driving customers from technical discovery through successful production deployment.

As a Lead Implementation Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical owner during implementation engagements, collaborating with customers, Engineering, Product Management, Customer Success, and Technical Support to deliver successful business outcomes.

This role is designed with approximately 75% focus on technical deployment, engineering, troubleshooting, and integrations, and 25% focus on implementation consulting, technical discovery, and customer advisory.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Deployment & Engineering 

• Lead end-to-end deployment and implementation of Qualys cybersecurity solutions for enterprise customers.
• Serve as the primary technical owner throughout the customer implementation lifecycle.
• Configure, deploy, validate, optimize, and troubleshoot complex product deployments across enterprise environments.
• Design and implement integrations with customer infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity providers, enterprise applications, and security technologies.
• Troubleshoot complex deployment, networking, operating system, authentication, API, cloud, and integration challenges.
• Develop automation and deployment workflows using APIs and scripting to improve implementation efficiency and customer outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering and Technical Support to investigate product issues, validate fixes, and resolve customer escalations.
• Perform root cause analysis for implementation challenges and recommend scalable technical solutions.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across assigned Qualys product portfolios.
• Mentor implementation engineers and contribute to implementation standards, best practices, and continuous process improvements.

Customer Implementation & Consulting 

• Conduct technical discovery workshops to understand customer environments, security architecture, business requirements, and deployment objectives.
• Translate customer requirements into implementation strategies and deployment plans.
• Guide enterprise customers through implementation milestones, production readiness, and operational best practices.
• Deliver implementation documentation, technical knowledge transfer, and deployment recommendations.
• Build trusted relationships with customer Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, and IT Operations teams.
• Partner with Customer Success, Sales Engineering, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure successful customer adoption.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience implementing enterprise cloud-based SaaS solutions.
• Proven experience leading enterprise customer implementations from technical discovery through production deployment.
• Strong customer-facing experience working with enterprise IT and Security organizations.
• Hands-on experience integrating enterprise platforms using REST APIs.
• Experience using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar to automate deployments, integrations, operational workflows, or troubleshooting tasks.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently lead multiple enterprise implementation engagements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Skills

Candidates are not expected to possess expertise in every technology listed below. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong competency across multiple areas depending on their background and implementation experience.

Experience in several of the following areas is preferred:

• Windows and Linux administration
• Enterprise networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Routing, Firewalls, VPNs, Proxy Servers, Load Balancers)
• Public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
• Identity and authentication technologies (Active Directory, LDAP, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
• REST APIs and API-based integrations
• Scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages
• Virtualization and container technologies (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Enterprise integrations such as ITSM, SIEM, or Identity platforms
• Enterprise security architecture and deployment best practices

Preferred Industry Background

Experience implementing enterprise cybersecurity or cloud-native SaaS solutions within customer environments is highly preferred. Candidates from organizations specializing in vulnerability management, cloud security, endpoint security, exposure management, identity security, or enterprise security platforms will be well suited for this role.

Experience Level
