Linux SUSE Pacemaker Operations Engineer

Experience

610 years of relevant experience in LinuxSUSE infrastructure operations including strong handson experience in OS patching and highavailability environments Working exposure to backuprecovery and disasterrecovery operations is expected

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Linux SUSE Cloud Operations Engineer to support enterprise workloads running primarily on Azure IaaS The role is centered on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES OS patching operational troubleshooting and SAP Pacemaker highavailability clusters with supporting exposure to backuprecovery and disasterrecovery processes

The engineer will execute planned maintenance resolve incidents validate recovery readiness and coordinate with application SAP backup disasterrecovery infrastructure and vendor teams Specialist teams will own complex Commvault and Azure Site Recovery engineering activities

The environment includes SAP and nonSAP workloads Azure Virtual Machines Puppetbased patching SUSE Live Patching Pacemaker clustering Commvault and Azure Site Recovery The successful candidate should be a strong LinuxSUSE generalist with depth in patching and high availability rather than a specialist in every platform

Key Responsibilities

1 Linux SUSE Administration

Administer and troubleshoot SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES and other enterprise Linux workloads

Troubleshoot Linux services packages processes filesystems LVM mount points CPUmemory utilization and OSlevel incidents

Perform server lifecycle and operational support activities

Analyze system and service logs using Linux diagnostic utilities and journalctl

Support Linux workloads hosted on Azure Virtual Machines

Participate in incident change and problemmanagement activities

2 OS Patching Live Patching

Execute scheduled Linux OS patching and SUSE Live Patching activities

Perform prepatching checks and postpatching health validation

Validate diskfilesystem capacity packagerepository health pending reboot conditions and service health

Troubleshoot patch failures and coordinate rollback where required

Work with Puppetbased patch orchestration and SUSE repositories

Support patching of clustered SAP Linux workloads in the approved node sequence

Ensure backuprollback readiness before executing OSSP upgrade activities

Capture logs and evidence before retrying failed patching operations

3 Backup Recovery Support

Monitor backup status and identify failures affecting Linux workloads using available Commvault dashboards and procedures

Perform firstlevel validation and collect diagnostic evidence for backup incidents

Resolve OS filesystem connectivity or agentrelated issues within the Linux support scope

Support approved VM and filesystem restoration activities led by the backup team

Confirm backup readiness with the responsible team before patching or upgrade activities

Assist with recovery validation during disasterrecovery drills

Escalate Commvault platform issues to backup specialists and coordinate with SAP and application teams

4 Disaster Recovery Support

Support Azure Site Recovery operations for Linux workloads by following approved runbooks

Monitor replication health and perform firstlevel validation of protection issues

Participate in DR readiness checks and disasterrecovery drills

Perform Linux OS and applicationservice validation during failover and failback activities

Troubleshoot OSlevel dependencies such as disk visibility services agents and network reachability

Validate server and service health following infrastructure or recovery changes

Escalate complex ASR platform issues to DR or Azure specialists with complete diagnostic evidence

Document findings actions and recoveryvalidation results

5 SUSE Pacemaker High Availability

Support SUSE PacemakerCorosync HA clusters used by SAP workloads

Monitor clusternoderesource health and troubleshoot cluster incidents

Validate Pacemaker resources before and after OS patching and maintenance

Understand activepassive architecture cluster resource movement fencing and node maintenance concepts

Use operational tools such as crmmon crm status pcs status where applicable and journalctl for investigation

Support maintenance and patching activities while preserving cluster availability

Validate that cluster resources and required services are healthy after maintenance

Strong handson Linux administration

Strong experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES

Linux OS patching troubleshooting and health validation

Linux filesystems LVM services packages logs and performance troubleshooting

Pacemaker Corosync clustering and activepassive HA concepts

Experience supporting Linux workloads on Azure Virtual Machines
