Role: Principal Consultant – Marketing Analytics

Location: India – Mumbai | Pune

Job Summary

The Principal Consultant is a pivotal role responsible for translating client business priorities into high-value analytical workstreams, and connecting insights to strategic decision-making. This individual will work directly with the client's CMO organization as the primary engagement lead and trusted advisor, ideating on solution approaches to measure the success of marketing efforts and activities, and owning the analytics roadmap, delivery governance, and outcomes of a hybrid-skilled team spanning data engineering, data modeling, BI, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• CMO Org Partnership & Stakeholder Management: Work directly with the client's CMO organization, serving as the primary point of contact for senior marketing leadership, owning executive alignment, escalations, and participation in steering committee and governance reviews.

• Marketing Measurement Solutioning: Ideate with the CMO org and suggest solution approaches to measure the success of marketing efforts and activities carried out by the client, translating measurement needs into practical, data-driven frameworks.

• Analytics Strategy & Roadmap: Define market, account, persona and engagement analyses to identify growth opportunities, prioritize focus areas, and provide actionable recommendations, building a roadmap covering attribution, measurement frameworks, and KPIs.

• Consulting & Insight Generation: Analyze marketing and commercial performance, identify optimization opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations grounded in attribution modeling and measurement frameworks.

• Delivery Oversight & Governance: Provide thorough oversight of project execution across the team (Data Engineer, Data Modeler, BI Specialist, Automations Specialist), ensuring quality, timelines, and adherence to the agreed governance cadence.

• Solution Design: Lead the conceptualization of data-driven solutions across market, account, and campaign intelligence; translate business requirements into actionable analytical blueprints considering data availability and feasibility.

• Cross-Functional & Team Collaboration: Foster collaboration across the team and eClerx's Centers of Excellence (Generative AI, Intelligent Process Automation) to drive best practices, quality assurance, and reusable accelerators.

• Team Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to a hybrid offshore team of data engineers, data modelers, BI specialists, and automation specialists. Hire, develop, and retain top talent, and ensure team alignment with organizational and client goals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced degree  (MBA, MS in Data Science, Statistics, or related field) with 8+ years of relevant experience, including 6+ years in analytics leadership. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, including 8+ years in analytics leadership.
• Marketing background  with hands-on experience in marketing analytics, campaign measurement, or marketing performance management, sufficient to engage credibly with a CMO organization.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills  with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and analytical recommendations to executive and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain      strong relationships at the executive level within client organizations, including experience leading engagements remotely from an offshore delivery center.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills  to translate ambiguous business priorities into structured, high-value analytical workstreams.
• Deep expertise  in marketing and commercial analytics, attribution modeling, and measurement frameworks applied to enterprise/B2B environments.
• Strong understanding  of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data engineering/analytics tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience managing and collaborating      with distributed/offshore delivery teams, and coordinating closely with onsite program managers and client stakeholders.
• Proven leadership and people management skills  with a focus on developing and retaining team talent.
• Proven negotiation and governance skills  to build consensus and drive alignment across steering and governance committees.

Desired Skills

• Proven experience  leading marketing analytics engagements or advisory teams for enterprise/technology clients, with a preference for marketing, revenue, or commercial analytics.
• Domain preference for IoT, instrumentation, or industrial automation,  given the relevance of these domains to the client's business context.
• Demonstrated expertise  across data engineering, data modeling, BI/visualization, and AI-enabled automation (Generative AI/LLMs), sufficient to guide a multi-skill team.
• Proven ability  to convert market, account, and campaign data into actionable growth intelligence and communicate it to executive audiences.
• Experience  applying agile methodologies (such as Scrum) and proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana).
• Proficiency in  SQL, Python, and/or R programming languages.
• Experience  with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Familiarity with      problem-solving frameworks (such as root cause analysis, Six Sigma, or Design Thinking) applied to marketing/commercial analytics challenges.
