Position Overview 

The Risk Process Innovation Specialist will be a key hire within the newly established Risk Innovation Hub, a strategic team focused on identifying opportunities to enhance how Risk Management operates across the organization. The Hub partners with teams across the Risk function to evaluate and reimagine end-to-end processes, driving improvements in both effectiveness and efficiency while strengthening risk outcomes. 

 

This role will be responsible for leading the analysis and redesign of Risk Management processes across multiple risk disciplines. Through the application of process engineering, transformation methodologies and the adoption of new technologies. 

 

The incumbent will play a key role in driving the transformation of Risk Management processes through innovative thinking, structured analysis, and stakeholder partnership. Working across the Risk organization, the individual will assess end-to-end processes and develop practical recommendations that enhance both operational effectiveness and risk outcomes.  While AI and automation will represent a part of approaches, the hub will take a broader view, considering holistic changes to how we work that create the greatest value.  

 

The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong process engineering expertise, innovative thinking, structured problem-solving, and stakeholder influence. They will play a critical role in identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to transform how work is performed across the Risk organization. The role will partner closely with leaders across Financial Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, Technology Risk, and Business Risk functions to shape the future operating model of the Risk function. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead end-to-end analysis and documentation of key Risk Management processes - across multiple risk disciplines.   

  • Constructively review existing ways of working and identify opportunities for process improvements that improve efficiencies and/or Risk outcomes.  

  • Deliver an innovative perspective, by identifying current and future opportunities to leverage AI, analytics, workflow technologies, and other innovative solutions.  In doing so, explore ambitious solutions that go beyond localised use-cases.  

  • Undertake interviews, workshops, and working sessions with stakeholders to gather information, requirements and validate findings.   

  • Develop future-state process designs and actionable transformation recommendations.  Including implementation roadmaps and analysis of benefits, risks and costs. 

  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and process owners across the Risk organization. Collaborate with Risk, Technology, Data, and the ACE team to assess transformation opportunities. 

  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to executive stakeholders and governance forums. 

  • Monitor external trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies – notably AI - relevant to Risk Management transformation. 

  • Provide recommendations on prioritisation of processes for review Including the value of processes that span Risk and First Line-of-defence teams.  

  • Be an active member of Risk’s Innovation Hub Taking a leading role in bringing innovative ways of working and thinking to this crucial business unit.  

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills 

  • Strong process engineering or business process management expertise.  With an understanding of process redesign, process optimization, and change management principles. 

  • Ability to analyse complex end-to-end processes and identify pragmatic improvement opportunities. 

  • Innovative mindset with a demonstrated ability to challenge established practices and generate creative solutions. 

  • Awareness of how emerging technologies can be utilised (including AI), and an appetite to develop this knowledge.   

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.  Including an ability to influence and gain credibility with senior stakeholders. 

  • Strong facilitation skills, including leading workshops and cross-functional discussions. 

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. 

  • Knowledge of Risk Management processes, operational risk, compliance, or related control functions would be advantageous but is not essential. 

Experience 

  • For internal applications - 24 months as Senior Consultant

  • 12 + years of  experience in process engineering, business transformation, operational excellence, or relevant management consulting.   Or equivalent skills.

  • Experience of leading process improvement or business transformation initiatives within financial services. 

  • Experience documenting and redesigning complex end-to-end processes involving multiple stakeholders and systems. 

  • Experience implementing innovative technology solutions (inc AI) to enhance processes outcomes and efficiencies.   

  • Experience engaging with senior leaders and influencing decisions on business transformation initiatives.  

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, BPM, or Process Excellence frameworks. 

  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills. 

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional transformation initiatives.
