Core Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Core Team Engineer is responsible for supporting India Core Engineering activities related to the design, development, standardization, and lifecycle management of shock absorber and strut components for 2-Wheeler and 4-Wheeler applications. The role ensures that component development meets customer requirements, internal technical standards, and program-specific targets such as OSE, MCS, VAVE, localization, and resourcing initiatives. The engineer collaborates with regional and global teams to drive standardization and acts as the single-point contact for key stakeholders including GSCM, plant teams, and quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Requirements & Concept Development
• Align with customer/requestor to finalize the Statement of Requirements (SOR) and maintain it throughout the development cycle.
• Define component concepts, architecture, and release design iterations.
• Maintain documentation for requirements, specifications, guidelines, and rules for component usage.
2. Component Design & Validation
• Lead design and development of core components for shocks and struts for 2W and 4W applications.
• Develop and maintain engineering specifications and material specifications.
• Conduct and approve Component DFMEA and Component ADVP.
• Support development testing, review results, and approve testing reports.
• Perform official release of components based on internal procedures.
3. Program and Cross-Functional Support
• Support new component development activities, including VAVE, new supplier development, resourcing, and localization.
• Ensure achievement of OSE and MCS targets through engineering interventions.
• Provide expertise to project teams in the relevant product domain.
4. Release & Industrialization
• Approve PPAP documents for serial component releases.
• Coordinate with global and regional engineering teams for standardization and best practices.
• Maintain high discipline in following design and release procedures.
5. Continuous Improvement & Standardization
• Identify opportunities to standardize components and design approaches across regions.
• Maintain updated general specifications and component guidelines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and optimize component performance, cost, and manufacturability.
QUALIFICATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of material properties and applications.
• Good understanding of 2W and 4W shock absorber design fundamentals.
• Background in mechanical design and/or hydraulic systems.
KEY COMPETENCIES
• Strong understanding of mechanical component design.
• Hands-on knowledge of shock/strut components and their functional requirements.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, ADVP, PPAP, engineering specifications, and material standards.
