Job Description
- Roles and ResponsibilitiesIncoming Material Inspection
- Inspect raw materials, bought-out components and mechanical parts received from suppliers.
- Verify material dimensions, specifications, quality certificates and purchase order requirements.
- Identify and report defective or non-conforming materials.
- In-Process Quality Inspection
- Conduct quality inspections during machining, fabrication, welding, assembly and production activities.
- Check dimensions, tolerances, alignment, surface finish and component fitment as per engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with the production team to resolve quality-related issues.
- Final Quality Inspection
- Inspect finished machines and equipment before dispatch.
- Verify assembly quality, functionality, safety guards, fitment and overall workmanship.
- Check machine performance during testing and trials as per approved specifications.
- Ensure customer-specific requirements are fulfilled before final approval.
- Quality Documentation
- Maintain inspection reports, checklists, test reports and quality records.
- Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs) and maintain rejection and rework records.
- Maintain inspection instruments' calibration records.
- Prepare and maintain final inspection and dispatch clearance reports.
- Defect Identification and Corrective Action
- Identify quality defects and take appropriate action in coordination with the concerned department.
- Coordinate with production, design, purchase and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring defects.
- Supplier Quality Management
- Communicate quality issues to suppliers and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support supplier evaluation and incoming material quality improvement.
- Verify replacement or reworked components before acceptance.
- Process Improvement
- Support implementation of quality standards, inspection procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities to reduce rejection, rework, material wastage and customer complaints.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement activities.
- Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate with Production, Design, Purchase, Stores and Service departments.
- Report major quality issues to the QC Manager or Production Manager.
- Ensure that only approved and inspected materials and machines proceed to the next stage or dispatch.
- Required Skills and QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical field.
- Experience in quality control in machinery manufacturing, fabrication or packaging machinery is preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensional inspection and mechanical measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges and dial indicators.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and inspection documentation.
- Good observation, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with production and other departments.
