Design Manager

Responsibilities

Design and develop pharmaceutical packaging machines such as blister packing machines, bottle filling and capping machines, labeling machines, cartoning machines, strip packing machines, and other packaging equipment, as applicable.Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed component drawings.Work with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent.Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), part lists, and engineering documentation.Select suitable materials, bearings, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, sensors, and other mechanical components.Ensure designs meet required machine performance, accuracy, safety, and reliability standards.Follow applicable GMP, cGMP, hygienic design, and pharmaceutical equipment requirements.Use suitable materials such as SS 304 and SS 316/316L wherever required by product contact and customer specifications.Coordinate with production, fabrication, machining, assembly, electrical, automation, and service departments.Support machine assembly, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and design modifications.Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs, improve machine efficiency, and standardize components.Incorporate customer-specific requirements and prepare design documentation for approval.Ensure drawings, tolerances, fits, surface finishes, and assembly instructions are clearly defined.Maintain revision control and engineering change documentation.Required SkillsProficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D engineering drawings.Knowledge of machine design, mechanical assemblies, tolerances, fits, and GD&T.Understanding of pneumatics, mechanical drives, cams, gears, shafts, and motion mechanisms.Knowledge of material selection, machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.Familiarity with pharmaceutical packaging machinery and GMP requirements.Ability to interpret customer specifications and convert them into practical machine designs.Good problem-solving, analytical, teamwork, and communication skills.
