Position: Field Assistant

Location: Barddhaman, West Bengal

Overview: The Field Assistant (Sampling Support) provides direct hands-on assistance to the

Field Officer in all field sampling activities including soil sampling, equipment handling, and

sample transportation within the assigned district. This is a physically demanding role requiring

presence in agricultural fields during sampling campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain regular field presence for soil sampling activities including GHG gas

collection, soil sampling, equipment handling, and sample transportation within

the assigned district.

Assist in soil collection, handling, and related field procedures.

Conduct basic quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of samples.

Prepare and maintain reports related to sampling, observations, and field data.

Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth field operations and timely reporting.

Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum 10th Pass (SSC) or 12th Pass (HSC/Intermediate) from a recognised board

Basic understanding and awareness of agriculture and farming practices is required

Prior hands-on experience in soil sampling or GHG gas sample collection activities will

be a strong added advantage

Ability to assist with equipment setup, sample labelling, and transport under the

supervision of the Field Officer

Language Requirements:

Must be a local candidate who can fluently speak and understand the local district/state

language

Proficiency in Hindi/English and Bengali is preferable.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned district and, when required, to

other districts and states

Must be comfortable with frequent field visits to remote agricultural areas and farmer

fields

Other Requirements:

Male candidates only- This position involves severe physical activities in agricultural

field conditions and is classified as a challenging field role

Must be physically fit and able to work in outdoor agricultural environments across

season
