Job Description
Position: Quality Engineer
Department: Quality / Quality Assurance
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and quality-focused Quality Engineer to ensure that incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products meet defined quality standards and customer requirements. The candidate will be responsible for inspection of vacuum-formed plastic parts, maintaining quality records, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Incoming Quality Inspection (IQC) of raw materials, components, and purchased parts as per specifications and quality standards.
- Perform In-Process Quality Inspection (IPQC) at various stages of production to ensure process and product conformity.
- Conduct Final Inspection (FQC) of vacuum-formed plastic parts before dispatch.
- Inspect vacuum-formed parts for dimensions, appearance, surface defects, thickness, shape, trimming, holes, warpage, cracks, deformation, and other customer-specific requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection standards, and quality documents.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges, measuring tapes, and other inspection equipment.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection Reports, In-Process Inspection Reports, Final Inspection Reports, and other quality records.
- Maintain proper documentation of inspection results, rejection, rework, and corrective actions.
- Identify quality issues and coordinate with Production and Process/Technical teams for root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor recurring defects and support defect reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare regular quality reports and MIS reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and customer-specific quality requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Quality Engineering/Quality Inspection, preferably in vacuum forming, thermoforming, plastics, automotive components, packaging, or related manufacturing industries.
- Good knowledge of vacuum-formed/thermoformed plastic parts and common manufacturing defects.
- Strong knowledge of Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspection procedures.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Good knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Experience in preparing and maintaining quality reports and documentation.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills with Production, Purchase, Technical, and other departments.
Preferred Experience
Experience in vacuum forming / thermoforming of plastic components, particularly for automotive, industrial, packaging, furniture, insulation, or other B2B applications, will be preferred.
