Manager – Accounts & Finance (Sole/Independent Contributor)

Job Summary

The Accounts and Finance Manager will independently oversee all financial, accounting, statutory, and taxation operations of the MSME. This role acts as a one-person finance department, reporting directly to the Managing Director and ensures complete financial accuracy, cash flow stability, and 100% regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts in accounting software (e.g., Tally Prime, ERP, or QuickBooks).
• Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), including vendor payments, customer invoicing, and follow-ups on overdue receivables.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, cash audits, and petty cash management.
• Process monthly payroll calculations, salary disbursements, and employee benefit records.

2. Statutory & Tax Compliance (India/MSME context)

• Handle end-to-end GST compliance, including monthly/quarterly return filings (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), e-way bills, and annual returns (GSTR-9).
• Manage TDS and TCS calculations, deductions, timely deposits, and quarterly return filings (Form 24Q, 26Q) along with issuing Form 16/16A.
• Oversee income tax filings, advance tax computations, and statutory audits in coordination with external chartered accountants (CAs).
• Ensure compliance with MSME regulations, Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), and local trade/establishment licenses.

3. Financial Reporting & Management Information System (MIS)

• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements for management review.
• Track budget-versus-actual expenses and highlight cost-saving or margin-improvement opportunities.
• Provide financial data and insights to support business decisions, pricing, and working capital optimization.

4. Working Capital & Treasury Management

• Monitor daily and weekly cash flows to ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity for operations.
• Coordinate with bankers for working capital limits, cash credit (CC) renewals, bank guarantees, and trade finance requirements.

5. Audit & Internal Controls

• Establish and maintain basic internal controls to prevent leakages, fraud, or reconciliation mismatches.
• Act as the primary point of contact for statutory auditors, tax consultants, and financial institutions during inspections or year-end closures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (B.Com / BBA); M.Com or MBA (Finance) is a plus.
• Experience: 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience handling full-cycle accounting and taxation independently, ideally within an MSME or manufacturing/trading environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Zoho Books and MS Excel .
• Deep, up-to-date knowledge of Indian GST, TDS, Income Tax, and corporate compliance.
• Soft Skills & Competencies:
• High level of personal integrity, honesty, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work completely autonomously with minimal supervision ("one-person army").
• Good communication skills to liaise with vendors, banks, auditors, and senior management.
