Job Description
Job title: Field Business Development Executive – SME Process Automation
Location: Bengaluru
Experience: 3–5 years
Type: Full-time, field-based
Reporting to: Founder / Business Development Manager
Industrial-sales positions require field prospecting, factory visits, cold calling, relationship building and appointment generation.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have sold to industrial distributors, manufacturers, factories or SME owners.
- Be comfortable entering an industrial estate and approaching businesses directl
- Ask sensible questions and listen carefully.
- Explain your service without using technical terminology.
- Build trust with owners, accountants, sales managers and operations managers.
- Generate interest and secure appointments—not attempt to design the automation.
- Speak good English and Kannada. Hindi is an advantage.
- Have a two-wheeler and be willing to travel extensively around Bengaluru.
- Keep accurate prospect notes and follow up consistently.
A technical degree is unnecessary. A graduate or diploma holder with strong industrial B2B field-sales experience is preferable to an engineer who cannot prospect.
Best previous experience
Look for candidates who have sold:
- Industrial supplies, electrical products, packaging or machinery
- Safety equipment, tools, hydraulics or MRO products
- ERP, accounting or inventory software
- Freight, logistics or warehousing services
- Office automation, printers, telecommunications or business services
- Solutions through distributors, dealers or channel partners
Industrial automation companies also commonly seek people with distributor, system-integrator, OEM and end-user sales experience
