Job Description (JD) – Primary Teacher (State Syllabus)
Position: Primary TeacherDepartment: AcademicsGrade: Primary (Grade 1–5)Curriculum: State SyllabusJob SummaryThe Primary Teacher will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for young learners by delivering lessons as per the State syllabus, developing foundational skills, and ensuring students' academic and overall development. Primary teachers are generally responsible for lesson planning, classroom instruction, assessment, and supporting students' learning needs.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesAcademic Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective lessons according to the State syllabus and academic calendar.
- Teach core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Languages (as assigned).
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, activities, and assessments.
- Ensure clarity of concepts through activity-based and student-centred teaching methods.
- Integrate real-life examples and practical activities to improve understanding.
- Monitor students’ learning progress and provide additional support wherever required.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage student participation, creativity, and confidence.
- Manage classroom activities and ensure effective time utilisation.
- Promote good behaviour, values, and teamwork among students.
Assessment & Documentation
- Conduct class tests, assignments, and periodic assessments.
- Evaluate students' performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain student records, attendance, assessment reports, and academic documentation.
- Identify learning gaps and implement improvement strategies.
Student Development
- Support students in developing reading, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage participation in competitions, activities, and school events.
- Provide guidance and emotional support to students when required.
- Build positive relationships with students and parents.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in teacher training programs, meetings, and academic discussions.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers for lesson planning and academic improvement.
- Follow school policies, procedures, and academic standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Required SkillsStrong knowledge of State syllabus subjects.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to explain concepts using simple and effective teaching methods.
- Creativity in designing activities and learning resources.
- Patience and understanding towards young learners.
- Basic digital skills for teaching and academic documentation.
- Educational QualificationBachelor’s Degree with D.El.Ed / B.Ed (as applicable).
- Relevant teaching experience in Primary classes preferred.
- Experience1–3 years of experience teaching Primary classes under State syllabus preferred.
