Design Sales Consultant

About the Role

At Opulent Decor by Haryana Handlooms, we believe furnishing a home is not simply about selling products—it is about helping customers make the right choices.

We are looking for a Design Sales Consultant – Home Furnishings who combines design understanding with strong sales and customer relationship skills.

The role involves meeting customers, understanding their requirements, lifestyle, taste and budget, and recommending suitable furnishing and home décor solutions.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable discussing fabrics, colours, textures, patterns, curtains, upholstery, blinds, carpets, wallpapers, flooring and other home décor products—and should also have the confidence and ability to convert consultations into sales.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Consultation-

• Welcome and engage customers visiting the showroom.
• Understand their home, requirements, preferences, lifestyle and budget.
• Identify the customer's actual requirement rather than simply selling the product they initially ask for.
• Explain different furnishing and décor options in a simple and convincing manner.
• Build customer confidence through professional design recommendations.

Design & Product Recommendation-

• Recommend suitable fabrics, colours, textures, patterns and furnishing products.
• Suggest complete furnishing solutions based on the customer's budget and requirements.
• Help customers coordinate curtains, upholstery, blinds, carpets, wallpapers, flooring, bed and bath products and other décor elements.
• Assist customers who do not have an architect or interior designer.
• Help customers who already have an architect/interior designer understand and select the products specified by them.

Sales & Business Development-

• Convert showroom enquiries and walk-ins into sales.
• Prepare quotations and follow up with customers.
• Achieve monthly sales targets.
• Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
• Generate repeat business and customer referrals.
• Develop long-term relationships with customers, architects and interior designers.

Site Visits-

• Visit customer sites when required.
• Understand the actual site conditions.
• Take basic measurements/observations where required.
• Recommend suitable furnishing solutions based on the space and customer's requirements.
• Coordinate with the internal team for execution.

Relationship Management-

• Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the sales process.
• Follow up on quotations, samples, orders and pending decisions.
• Build relationships with architects, interior designers and other influencers.
• Generate referrals through excellent customer experience.

Coordination-

• Coordinate with the showroom, design, stitching, installation and backend teams.
• Ensure customer requirements are communicated accurately.
• Follow up until the order is successfully executed.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who has:

• Strong interest or experience in interior design, home décor, textiles or furnishing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good aesthetic sense and understanding of colours, fabrics and materials.
• Strong customer-handling ability.
• A natural consultative selling approach.
• Ability to understand customer budgets and recommend accordingly.
• Confidence to interact with premium customers.
• Willingness to undertake site visits.
• Strong follow-up and closing ability.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of customers.
