VMC Machine Operator

Job Summary:

The VMC Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines to manufacture precision components as per engineering drawings, dimensional specifications, and quality standards. The role involves machine setting, tool loading, program execution, component inspection, and routine machine maintenance.

• Key ResponsibilitiesOperate VMC machines to produce components as per production plans and engineering drawings.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining instructions.
• Load and unload components, fixtures, and cutting tools.
• Perform machine setting, workpiece alignment, and tool offset adjustments.
• Load, run, and monitor CNC programs for machining operations.
• Use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
• Inspect machined components and ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Identify machining defects, tool wear, and machine abnormalities.
• Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain production records, inspection reports, and tool usage details.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain 5S standards in the workplace.
• Coordinate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and production engineers to meet production targets.
• Required Skills and QualificationsITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
• Experience operating VMC machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi.
• Knowledge of G-codes, M-codes, tool offsets, and work offsets.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T basics.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and workholding fixtures.
• Good measurement, inspection, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of workplace safety and quality procedures.
