Kitchen Helper

We are a busy restaurant, looking for a reliable and hardworking kitchen helper to join our team.

Role Summary

You will support our chefs in daily kitchen operations, handling prep work, cutting and frying, and keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly during service.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, cut and chop vegetables, meat and other ingredients as per chef instructions, with consistent size and neatness
• Operate the frying station: fry items to the right colour and crispness, and manage oil quality and temperature
• Prepare ingredients and mise en place before service
• Assist chefs during peak hours and follow orders quickly and accurately
• Maintain hygiene and food safety standards, including proper storage, labelling and handling
• Keep work stations, equipment, utensils and the kitchen floor clean
• Receive, store and arrange stock; report shortages or wastage
• Follow portion control and minimise food waste

Requirements

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a kitchen helper or commis in a restaurant kitchen
• Good knife skills and speed in cutting vegetables and meat
• Hands-on experience with frying
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, open kitchen environment
• Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety
• Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

• Experience in Chinese, Pan-Asian or Indian restaurant kitchens
• Ability to understand basic Hindi, Tamil or English'
