JOB DESCRIPTION – FLOOR SUPERVISOR

Job SummaryWe are looking for a responsible and hands-on Floor Supervisor to manage day-to-day shop-floor activities, coordinate manpower, monitor production, maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure production targets are achieved efficiently.

• Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily activities on the production floor and ensure smooth workflow.
• Allocate manpower according to production requirements and machine workload.
• Coordinate with Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and Prepress teams.
• Monitor production schedules and ensure jobs are completed as per plan.
• Track machine running, downtime, changeover time and production output.
• Ensure operators and helpers follow approved SOPs and work instructions.
• Monitor product quality and immediately report defects or process deviations.
• Ensure proper handling of raw materials, inks, plates, sleeves, packaging materials and finished goods.
• Maintain shop-floor discipline, housekeeping and 5S practices.
• Ensure operators follow required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Identify production bottlenecks and coordinate with concerned departments for quick resolution.
• Maintain daily production records, downtime records, rejection records and manpower attendance.
• Conduct shift handover and communicate pending jobs, machine issues and important observations to the next shift.
• Monitor wastage and take corrective action to minimize material loss.
• Support implementation of OEE, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Escalate major machine, quality, manpower or production issues to the Production Manager.
• Train and guide operators, helpers and new employees on shop-floor procedures.
• Ensure machines, work areas and materials are properly organized before and after each job.
• Preferred SkillsGood knowledge of manufacturing shop-floor operations.
• Experience in flexible packaging / printing / lamination / slitting will be an advantage.
• Good manpower handling and team coordination skills.
• Ability to understand production schedules and meet deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of quality control, 5S, safety and OEE.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
• Should be willing to work in shifts when required.
• Hands-on and disciplined approach to shop-floor management.

QualificationDiploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Printing Technology, Production, Manufacturing or a related field preferred.

Candidates with relevant manufacturing experience and other technical qualifications may also be considered.
