Job SummaryThe Waiter delivers warm, polished, and efficient dining service to hotel guests, upholding the standards expected of a 4-star property. The role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages accurately, and ensuring every guest has a memorable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service

• Greet guests courteously, seat them, and present menus
• Explain menu items, specials, ingredients, and answer questions about preparation
• Suggest food and beverage pairings and upsell tactfully
• Take orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen and bar
• Handle guest requests, dietary needs, and allergen queries with care
• Respond to complaints calmly and escalate to the Captain or Manager when needed

Food & Beverage Service

• Serve courses in the correct sequence following fine-dining etiquette
• Serve and pour wine, beer, and other beverages correctly
• Clear tables promptly and discreetly between courses
• Present the bill, process payments, and post charges to room accounts

Setup & Operations

• Prepare the dining area before service: table setting, polishing cutlery and glassware, folding napkins
• Maintain stock of linen, crockery, condiments, and service stations
• Attend daily briefings on menu changes, VIP guests, and reservations
• Support banquets, buffets, and in-room dining when required
• Close down the section at end of shift and restock for the next service

Standards & Compliance

• Follow hotel SOPs, hygiene, and food safety (HACCP) guidelines
• Maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance and wear the uniform correctly
• Follow fire, safety, and emergency procedures
• Report damaged equipment, spills, or safety hazards immediately

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or certificate in Hotel Management or Food & Beverage Service (preferred)
• 1-3 years of experience in a 3-star or higher hotel or restaurant
• Freshers with strong training potential may be considered for Trainee / Commis roles
• Skills & CompetenciesExcellent communication in English and the local language (Tamil/Hindi is an advantage)
• Knowledge of table service, menu items, and basic wine and beverage service
• Strong guest-service attitude, patience, and professionalism
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tables
• Teamwork and good coordination with kitchen and bar staff
• Familiarity with POS systems
• Attention to detail, punctuality, and personal grooming
• Physical RequirementsAble to stand and walk for long hours
• Able to carry trays and heavy items safely
• Flexible to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays
