1. Job SummaryThe Assistant Shift Manager is responsible for supporting the Shift Manager in daily outlet operations, managing team members, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards, and achieving sales targets. The role requires hands-on involvement in floor operations, billing, kitchen coordination, beverage preparation, and staff management.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Outlet Operations

• Assist the Shift Manager in managing daily outlet operations smoothly.
• Ensure the outlet opens and closes as per company SOPs.
• Supervise floor operations, customer service, billing, packing, and order handling.
• Ensure all products are displayed properly and cake counters are maintained.
• Monitor stock availability and coordinate replenishment of bakery, kitchen, and beverage items.

B. Team Management

• Supervise and guide Team Members during the assigned shift.
• Allocate duties and ensure proper staff deployment.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, and discipline.
• Train new employees in customer service, billing, food handling, and operational SOPs.
• Report staff shortages, performance issues, and misconduct to the Shift Manager.

C. Sales & Customer Service

• Support the achievement of daily and monthly sales targets.
• Ensure proper customer interaction and timely order fulfilment.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate unresolved issues.
• Promote bakery products, beverages, and food items to improve sales.
• Monitor billing accuracy, upselling, and customer satisfaction.

D. Food & Beverage Operations

• Ensure correct preparation, portioning, and presentation of food and beverages.
• Supervise coffee, beverage, and kitchen operations as required.
• Maintain product quality, freshness, and prescribed shelf life.
• Ensure proper handling of dine-in, takeaway, and online orders.

E. Inventory & Cost Control

• Monitor daily stock consumption, wastage, and product availability.
• Assist with stock counting, inventory audits, and inward stock verification.
• Ensure proper recording of wastage, damaged products, and staff consumption.
• Prevent pilferage, unnecessary wastage, and unauthorized product consumption.
• Follow company procedures for cash handling and stock management.

F. Hygiene & Compliance

• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, service area, café floor, equipment, and cake counters.
• Ensure staff follow grooming, uniform, and personal hygiene standards.
• Follow food safety guidelines, FSSAI requirements, and company SOPs.
• Ensure correct temperature storage, FIFO/FEFO practices, and safe food handling.
• Report equipment breakdowns, maintenance issues, and safety hazards promptly.

G. Reporting & Coordination

• Prepare and submit shift handover reports.
• Report daily sales, cash discrepancies, wastage, stock shortages, and customer complaints.
• Coordinate with the Shift Manager, Outlet Manager, and support departments.
• Ensure all operational records and checklists are completed accurately.
• 3. Required Skills & QualificationsMinimum 1–2 years of experience in a café, bakery, QSR, or food & beverage outlet.
• Previous experience handling a team or supervising shift operations preferred.
• Basic knowledge of billing/POS systems, inventory, and sales reporting.
• Good communication and customer-handling skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and outlet SOPs.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays as per the roster.

• 5. General ExpectationsPerform all duties assigned by the Shift Manager or Outlet Manager.
• Maintain professional conduct and protect company property and confidential information.
• Support team members across the counter, kitchen, beverages, packing, and floor operations whenever required.
• Follow company policies regarding attendance, leave, uniform, and discipline.
• Be flexible to work at any assigned Mr. Brown outlet as per operational requirements.

Note: The Assistant Shift Manager is expected to take responsibility for smooth shift operations and act as the shift-in-charge in the absence of the Shift Manager, when authorized by management.
