Job Description

Job Title: Plant Head / GM

Industry: Engineering / Automotive / Industrial Component Manufacturing

Experience: 15 to 20+ Years

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plant Head to direct end-to-end plant operations, production planning, quality systems, maintenance, and plant P&L. The ideal candidate must possess deep technical expertise in engineering manufacturing and hands-on mastery of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and automotive core tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plant Operations & Production: Lead daily manufacturing operations to meet OTIF delivery targets, optimize machine throughput, and achieve peak OEE using Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM frameworks.
  • Quality & Audits: Own plant-wide quality assurance to drive zero-defect targets. Lead external, customer, and surveillance audits for IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Automotive Core Tools: Direct execution of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA across existing production lines and New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Problem Solving & CAPA: Champion structured root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for internal deviations and customer non-conformances.
  • Cost & Budget Control: Manage plant OPEX/CAPEX budgets, drive down Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Plant Maintenance & Safety: Minimize unplanned downtime via preventive maintenance; enforce strict EHS protocols for a zero-accident site.
  • Leadership & Compliance: Lead cross-functional teams (Production, QA, Maintenance, SCM, HR) and ensure full compliance with factory statutory and labor laws.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (MBA/M.Tech is a plus).
  • Experience: 15. to 20+ years in precision engineering or automotive component manufacturing, with at least 5 years managing full plant operations.
  • Certifications: Certified Internal / Lead Auditor for IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 strongly preferred; Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is an advantage.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in machining/fabrication/assembly operations, tooling, and Tier-1 ERP systems (SAP PP/QM).
  • Key Traits: Strategic decision-maker, strong customer-facing communicator, and seasoned team leader.
