Job Description – Senior Site Engineer

Job Purpose

To lead and manage project execution activities at site by ensuring work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules. The role is responsible for planning, coordination, quality control, team management, client interaction, and successful completion of assigned projects within the defined timelines and company standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1.     Project Execution & Site Management

·        Take complete ownership of assigned projects from site mobilization through project completion and handover.

·        Understand the complete project scope and execution requirements.

·        Plan, organize, monitor, and control day-to-day site activities.

·        Ensure project execution is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and project schedules.

·        Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to address delays and site challenges.

2.     Drawing Review & Technical Understanding

·        Review and understand concept drawings, working drawings, shop drawings, and installation details.

·        Interpret design intent and ensure proper implementation at site.

·        Coordinate with design and engineering teams for clarifications and technical support.

·        Ensure site execution complies with approved drawings and project specifications.

3.     Quality Control & Workmanship

·        Take overall responsibility for quality of execution throughout the project lifecycle.

·        Verify fixing details, installation methods, alignment, levels, tolerances, and workmanship standards.

·        Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

·        Identify quality concerns and implement corrective actions immediately.

·        Ensure final work delivered to the client meets company and project quality standards.

4.     Mock-Up & Proof of Concept (POC)

·        Plan and execute mock-ups, sample installations, and proof-of-concept activities before execution.

·        Ensure client, consultant, and architect approvals are obtained for mock-ups wherever applicable.

·        Verify constructability and execution methodology through approved mock-ups.

·        Implement lessons learned from mock-up activities into actual project execution.

5.     Material Management & Site Resources

·        Assess material requirements based on project schedules and site progress.

·        Coordinate with procurement and stores teams for timely material availability.

·        Ensure proper utilization, handling, storage, and protection of materials at site.

·        Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.

·        Ensure safety and security of project materials and company assets.

6.     Team Leadership & Workforce Management

·        Lead, guide, supervise, and motivate site engineers, supervisors, installers, and subcontractors.

·        Allocate work responsibilities and monitor team performance.

·        Ensure manpower deployment aligns with project requirements and schedules.

·        Provide technical guidance and practical support to junior engineers and site teams.

·        Develop team capabilities through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

7.     Planning & Schedule Monitoring

·        Prepare and monitor execution schedules in coordination with project management.

·        Track planned versus actual progress on a daily and weekly basis.

·        Identify potential delays and implement recovery plans.

·        Ensure project milestones are achieved as per committed timelines.

·        Maintain productivity and resource utilization targets.

8.     Client, Architect & Consultant Coordination

·        Attend site meetings with clients, architects, consultants, PMCs, and contractors.

·        Represent the company during technical discussions and progress review meetings.

·        Address site-related concerns and provide practical execution solutions.

·        Maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders.

9.     Documentation & Reporting

·        Maintain all project records, site reports, inspection records, measurement records, material records, and progress reports.

·        Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project status reports.

·        Maintain documentation related to quality inspections, approvals, site instructions, and project correspondence.

·        Ensure proper record keeping for future reference and project closure requirements.

10. Internal Coordination & Review Meetings

·        Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly review meetings with management and project teams.

·        Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Planning, Stores, Quality, and Accounts departments.

·        Support management in achieving project objectives and client commitments.

Qualification

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
