Senior Wedding Film Editor — DaVinci Resolve

About the role

Memory Lane Studios is a luxury wedding photography and filmmaking studio based in Connecticut, serving New York, New Jersey, New England, and destination weddings. We film Western, Indian, South Asian, Pakistani, and fusion weddings — both single-day events and multi-day celebrations with hundreds of guests and dozens of hours of footage.

We're looking for an editor who works natively in DaVinci Resolve and can take raw multi-camera footage and turn it into a film that feels like a story, not a montage. You'll also cut occasional documentary and brand work for Yozuma Media & Analytics, our production arm — process films, founder interviews, and craft documentaries.

This is a senior role. You should be able to take a project from ingest to final delivery with minimal direction.

What you'll edit

• Feature wedding films (8–20 min) — narrative-led, built around vows, speeches, and real moments
• Highlight films / teasers (3–5 min)
• Instagram Reels and vertical cuts (15–60 sec) from the same footage
• Multi-day event films — sangeet, mehndi, haldi, baraat, ceremony, reception — each with its own pacing and energy
• Documentary and brand films — interview-driven storytelling with b-roll, natural sound, and subtitles

Skills we need

DaVinci Resolve — full pipeline

• Edit page: multicam sync, proxy workflows, audio-led narrative assembly
• Color page: node-based grading, log footage (Sony S-Log3 / Canon C-Log / BRAW), LUT and PowerGrade workflows, skin-tone consistency across cameras and lighting conditions, matching drone and ground footage
• Fusion page: overlays, titles, lower thirds, light leaks, film grain, subtle transitions and effects that support the story rather than distract from it
• Fairlight page: dialogue cleanup, noise reduction, ducking, music editing, SFX layering, mix and loudness delivery

Storytelling

• Documentary sensibility — you build films around what people say and feel, not around the beat of the song
• Speech and vow editing — condensing 20 minutes of speeches into the 90 seconds that matter
• Pacing across very different energies (quiet ceremony vs. baraat vs. reception)
• Music selection and licensing awareness (Musicbed, Artlist, Epidemic, etc.)

Sound design

• Layering ambient sound, foley-style SFX (fabric, footsteps, applause, glass), and room tone
• Building emotional transitions with sound before picture
• Clean, broadcast-safe final mixes

Delivery

• Exports for web, social (9:16, 1:1, 4:5), and archival masters
• Subtitle and caption creation (including Tamil, Hindi, or Urdu when supplied with translations)
• Organised project structure, version control, and clear handoff notes
• Nice to haveFamiliarity with South Asian wedding traditions and their sequence — knowing what a jai mala or a pheras is makes the edit better
• Experience with FPV drone footage
• Basic Premiere Pro or Final Cut fluency for occasional collaboration
• Photography colour sense (Lightroom) to match our stills
• What we're looking for5+ years editing wedding films, documentaries, or narrative content professionally
• A reel that shows range: emotional, slow, cinematic work and fast, energetic, social-first cuts
• At least one long-form film you're proud of, with a short explanation of your editorial choices
• Reliable turnaround on agreed timelines during peak season (May–November)
