Job Description
You’ll create original embroidery motifs and placements for AINA’s kurta collections. Your designs go straight from sketch to our multi-head embroidery machines, so you’ll work closely with our production team to make sure they look beautiful and stitch efficiently.
What you’ll do
- Develop original motifs, borders, yokes and all-over patterns for seasonal and festive collections
- Plan placement on the garment (neckline, yoke, sleeves, hem, dupatta)
- Choose thread colours and suggest combinations for each fabric and colourway
- Work with the digitizer or production team to adapt designs for stitch count, thread changes and machine efficiency
- Research trends, traditional crafts and regional motifs, and translate them into AINA’s style
- Maintain an organised design library for reuse and variations
What we’re looking for
- A degree or diploma in textile, fashion or surface design, or an equivalent portfolio
- Proven embroidery motif work for Indian ethnic wear
- An understanding of machine embroidery and its constraints
- Proficiency in Illustrator or CorelDRAW; embroidery digitizing software (Wilcom, Pulse, Hatch) is a strong plus
- A strong sense of colour and of traditional Indian design vocabulary
- 1–4 years of experience; freshers with an outstanding portfolio are welcome
