Inventory Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Inventory Accountant to manage inventory accounting, stock records, purchase and sales entries, reconciliation, and day-to-day accounting activities.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of inventory management and accounting, be comfortable working with large volumes of data, and have excellent attention to detail.

• Maintain accurate records of inventory, purchases, sales, stock transfers, and adjustments.
• Record and verify purchase invoices, sales invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and other accounting documents.
• Reconcile physical stock with system/book stock and investigate discrepancies.
• Track inventory movement across warehouses, branches, and locations.
• Monitor stock receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and damages.
• Perform regular stock reconciliation and inventory valuation.
• Verify purchase orders, GRNs, invoices, and related documentation.
• Coordinate with the warehouse and purchase teams to ensure accurate inventory records.
• Identify and report stock shortages, excess stock, negative stock, and unusual inventory movements.
• Maintain proper documentation and records for audit purposes.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory and accounts.
• Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies when required.
• Prepare regular reports on stock position, inventory value, purchases, sales, and discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting procedures and applicable GST and taxation requirements.
• Support internal and statutory audits by providing required inventory and accounting records.
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry into the accounting/ERP system.
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in inventory accounting / accounts / stock management.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and reconciliation.
• Good knowledge of GST, purchase/sales accounting, and basic taxation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, and basic data analysis.
• Experience with Tally, ERP, or other accounting/inventory software.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and follow them through to resolution.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Experience in marble, granite, tiles, building materials, manufacturing, trading, or warehouse-based businesses will be an advantage.
