Store Keeper

A restaurant store keeper manages and controls food, beverages, and supplies. They inspect and receive deliveries, track inventory levels using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method, issue stock to the kitchen, and maintain clean, safe storage areas to minimize waste. [1, 2]

Job Duties

• Receiving Stock: Check incoming food, drinks, and supplies against invoices for accurate counts, quality, and expiry dates.
• Inventory Control: Organize dry stores, chillers, and freezers. Track stock levels and use FIFO or FEFO rotation to stop spoilage.
• Issuing Goods: Hand out items to the kitchen or bar based on approved slips.
• Record Keeping: Update digital logs or paper ledgers for deliveries, issuance, and counts.
• Waste & Cost Reduction: Track expired goods, report shortages, and run regular inventory checks.
• Cleanliness & Safety: Keep storage zones neat and at correct temperatures following hygiene rules. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Past experience in food service inventory or storekeeping.
• Basic computer skills, such as Excel or inventory software.
• Physical fitness to lift heavy boxes and stand for long periods.
• Good attention to detail and communication skills.
