Senior Engineer

Job Purpose

To manage meter installation, replacement, testing and maintenance activities within the division, ensuring accurate metering, minimal meter-related revenue loss and timely resolution of meter complaints.

Key Responsibilities

•    Plan and supervise meter installation, replacement and periodic testing (including defective/burnt/stuck meters) through the technician team.

•    Monitor meter health, MRI/AMR data and identify meters requiring replacement or investigation for tampering/theft.

•    Coordinate with revenue protection/vigilance teams on suspected meter tampering cases.

•    Ensure timely closure of meter-related customer complaints (slow/fast meter, meter burnt, meter not working).

•    Maintain meter stock reconciliation in coordination with the Stock Keeper and ensure calibration/testing compliance.

•    Track and report meter management KPIs — pending complaints, replacement TAT, faulty meter percentage — to the Divisional Manager.

•    Ensure technicians follow safety protocols during meter installation/replacement.

Skills & Competencies Required

•    Working knowledge of energy meters (electromechanical, static, smart/AMR meters)

•    Meter testing and troubleshooting

•    Team supervision of technicians

•    MIS and complaint-tracking systems

•    Awareness of revenue protection and anti-theft procedures

Job Purpose

To manage the new connection process end-to-end — from application scrutiny to service energisation — ensuring adherence to timelines, technical standards and regulatory (MERC Supply Code) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•    Process new connection applications (LT/HT) — technical feasibility, load sanction, estimate preparation and site verification.

•    Coordinate site inspections and ensure new connections are released within regulatory timelines.

•    Supervise service line laying, meter installation and testing for new connections in coordination with technicians.

•    Liaise with customers, contractors and internal teams (planning, metering, billing) to resolve new connection queries and delays.

•    Ensure correct application of tariff category, load and documentation as per MERC Supply Code.

•    Maintain new connection MIS/trackers and report pendency, ageing and TAT (turnaround time) to the Divisional Manager.

•    Ensure safety standards and quality checks are followed for all new service connections.

Skills & Competencies Required

•    Sound technical knowledge of LT/HT service connections and metering

•    Familiarity with MERC Supply Code and new connection regulations

•    Site supervision and vendor coordination

•    Customer handling and problem resolution

•    MS Office / utility billing software proficiency
