CNC PROGRAMMER/OPERATOR (FURNITURE)

We are hiring a Mid-Level CNC Operator/Programmer (Furniture) with 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in wood manufacturing.

The Mid-Level CNC Operator/Programmer will take furniture designs and turn them into physical products. With 2 to 5 years of experience, you should be fully comfortable operating and programming CNC wood routers without constant supervision. You will ensure precise cuts, maximize material usage on sheets (like MDF and plywood), and maintain high quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Program wood parts from scratch or modify existing files using CAM software based on production needs.
• Optimize nesting layouts to minimize wood waste and reduce material costs.
• Set up tools by selecting, installing, and calibrating the correct router bits, pods, and clamps for each job.
• Operate CNC machines independently to cut, drill, and shape solid wood, plywood, MDF, and veneers.
• Troubleshoot errors on the fly, including adjusting feed speeds or replacing dull tools when wood burning or chipping occurs.
• Inspect parts continuously during production runs using calipers and tape measures to ensure perfect fitment for final assembly.
• Perform routine care including daily machine cleaning, clearing wood dust, and lubricating moving parts.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience as a CNC operator and programmer specifically inside a furniture or woodworking factory.
• Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of CAD/CAM software (such as AlphaCAM, WoodWOP, Mastercam, or BiesseWorks) and basic G-code editing.
• Material Expertise: Strong understanding of how different wood grains and engineered woods react to cutting speeds and tool directions.
• Independent Problem Solver: Ability to read furniture blueprints and figure out the best machining process without needing constant direction.
• Physical Ability: Capability to lift and manage heavy wood panels (up to 50 lbs) and stand throughout the shift.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating related furniture machinery like edge-banders or beam saws.
• Formal technical training, apprenticeship, or certification in CNC machining.
