Job Overview
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Corporate Legal Counsel / Advocate to handle the company’s day-to-day legal matters, documentation, compliance, contracts, notices, and legal coordination.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of corporate and commercial laws, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to independently handle legal matters while protecting the company’s interests.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle day-to-day legal matters of the company and provide practical legal advice to management.
* Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize various legal documents, including:
* Agreements
* Vendor/Supplier Agreements
* Service Agreements
* Employment Agreements
* NDAs
* Lease/Rent Agreements
* Franchise/Business Agreements
* Partnership and commercial contracts
* Review contracts and identify legal, financial, and business risks.
* Ensure that all agreements and legal documents adequately protect the company’s interests.
* Handle legal notices, replies, demand notices, and correspondence with customers, vendors, employees, landlords, and other parties.
* Coordinate with external advocates and law firms for litigation and other legal matters.
* Maintain proper records of all ongoing and closed legal matters.
* Handle consumer complaints, disputes, recovery matters, and other commercial/legal issues.
* Assist management in matters related to employment and labour laws.
* Support the company in statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.
* Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to management on applicable laws and regulations.
* Assist in drafting company policies, terms & conditions, privacy policies, website/e-commerce legal documents, and other internal policies.
* Review legal implications of new business activities, products, services, and commercial arrangements.
* Monitor important legal deadlines, renewals, notices, agreements, and compliance requirements.
* Represent or coordinate representation of the company before relevant authorities, courts, tribunals, or other legal forums whenever required.
* Work closely with HR, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Management teams on legal matters.
Required Skills
* Strong knowledge of Corporate & Commercial Laws.
* Good understanding of Contract Law and commercial agreements.
* Knowledge of Labour & Employment Laws will be an advantage.
* Excellent legal drafting and documentation skills.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability to identify legal risks and provide practical solutions.
* Good knowledge of MS Office and legal research tools.
* Strong attention to detail and documentation.
* Ability to independently manage multiple legal matters and deadlines.
* Professional integrity and confidentiality are essential.
Eligibility
* LLB is mandatory.
* LLM will be an added advantage.
* Candidate should be enrolled with the Bar Council.
* 2–5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
* Candidates with experience in retail, e-commerce, real estate, hospitality, healthcare, or service-sector companies will be preferred.
