## About the Role

Realtime Biometrics is looking for a highly experienced **Senior Embedded Linux & Firmware Engineer** to lead the complete software development of our next-generation embedded hardware products.

The candidate will work with third-party hardware platforms and SoC-based development boards and will be responsible for developing, customizing, integrating and maintaining the complete software and firmware stack.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in **Embedded Linux, C/C++, BSP, Linux kernel, device drivers, multimedia processing, networking, cloud connectivity and OTA firmware**.

## Key Responsibilities

### Embedded Linux & Firmware

* Develop complete embedded firmware for Linux-based hardware platforms.

* Customize and integrate vendor-provided SDKs and BSPs.

* Modify Linux kernel and device tree.

* Work with U-Boot and bootloader.

* Develop and integrate device drivers.

* Manage GPIO, I²C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet and other interfaces.

* Optimize system performance, memory and boot time.

* Develop production-ready firmware.

### Multimedia & Data Processing

* Work with video/image processing pipelines.

* Integrate image sensors and multimedia peripherals.

* Implement hardware-accelerated encoding/decoding.

* Work with H.264/H.265 and other multimedia codecs.

* Manage multiple data streams.

* Implement recording, storage and playback functions.

* Work with ISP and image-processing frameworks where applicable.

### Networking

Develop and integrate:

* TCP/IP

* UDP

* HTTP/HTTPS

* RTSP

* RTP/RTCP

* ONVIF

* DHCP

* DNS

* NTP

* IPv4/IPv6

* WebSocket

* REST APIs

Experience with network-connected embedded products is highly preferred.

### Wi-Fi / 4G / 5G

* Integrate Wi-Fi modules.

* Integrate 4G/5G modules.

* SIM/network management.

* Remote configuration and diagnostics.

### Cloud Connectivity

Develop software for:

* Device registration

* Device authentication

* Device management

### OTA & Firmware Management

Develop a robust firmware-update system supporting:

* OTA updates

* Firmware version management

* Remote upgrades

* Firmware validation

* Rollback/recovery

* Failed-update protection

* Signed firmware

* Secure firmware distribution

### Security

Implement:

* TLS/HTTPS

* Device authentication

* User authentication

* Encryption

* Secure credential storage

* Secure firmware updates

* Firmware signing

* Secure boot where supported

* Protection against unauthorized firmware modification

### Web Interface

Develop and integrate embedded web interfaces using:

* HTML

* CSS

* JavaScript

* REST APIs

* WebSocket

* Embedded web servers

The interface may include:

* Live monitoring

* Device configuration

* Network configuration

* Storage management

* User management

* System information

* Firmware update

* Event configuration

* Logs and diagnostics

### AI / Edge Computing

Experience with edge AI will be an advantage.

Knowledge of:

* Object detection

* Face detection

* Face recognition

* Human/vehicle detection

* Motion detection

* AI inference

* NPU/AI accelerators

* TensorFlow Lite

* ONNX Runtime

* OpenCV

will be preferred.

### Hardware Bring-Up & Debugging

The engineer must be comfortable working with hardware engineers.

Responsibilities include:

* New PCB bring-up

* UART debugging

* JTAG debugging

* Boot-log analysis

* Kernel debugging

* Driver debugging

* Memory and storage troubleshooting

* Peripheral debugging

* Network debugging

* Performance optimization

* Thermal and stability troubleshooting

B.Tech / B.E. in:

Candidates with experience developing and shipping commercial embedded products will be strongly preferred.

## Important

This is **not a general software-development position**.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the **complete embedded software architecture**, work directly with hardware/SoC vendors, understand their SDK/BSP, modify the underlying software and build a reliable proprietary software platform.

The candidate should be comfortable working independently and eventually leading a small embedded software team.
