Job Description
Technical Leadership & Process Optimization
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and guide the backend engineering team to foster technical growth and enforce best practices.
Sprint & Architecture Planning: Plan backend roadmaps, break down features, lead system design discussions, and ensure clear technical specs before execution.
Process Streamlining: Establish standard operating procedures for code reviews, unit/integration testing, release management, and API documentation.
Core Backend & Database Engineering
System Design & API Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and performant RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js.
Database Architecture: Model and manage both document-based (MongoDB) and relational (PostgreSQL) databases, ensuring query optimization, indexing, and data integrity.
Performance Optimization: Monitor backend performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization under production traffic loads.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
Cloud Operations: Manage and maintain production environments on AWS (or equivalent cloud services like GCP/Azure).
CI/CD Pipelines: Build, automate, and streamline CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless, zero-downtime deployments.
Observability & Security: Implement robust logging, monitoring, alerting (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog), and cloud security best practices.
AI Integration & Innovation
AI-Assisted Engineering: Actively use AI developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude/ChatGPT APIs) to optimize coding efficiency, automate code reviews, and speed up debugging.
Bot & AI Capabilities (Bonus): Design, build, or integrate custom AI/LLM agents, conversational bots, or automated workflow tools into our platform ecosystem.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
2+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development with a proven track record in a fast-paced startup environment.
Core Stack Expertise: Strong mastery of Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript), MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
DevOps & Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with production deployments on AWS and configuring CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
Leadership Capabilities: Demonstrated experience or strong potential in planning sprints, driving developer workflows, and mentoring junior/mid-level engineers.
Problem-Solving: Exceptional algorithmic, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with a systematic approach to debugging complex system issues.
AI Tooling Proficiency: Daily usage of modern AI tools to write, refactor, and test code faster.
Good to Have (Bonus)
Hands-on experience building, fine-tuning, or integrating bots, chatbots, or LLM-powered workflows.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
