Role purpose

The Production Manager owns every signage job from order confirmation to handover at dispatch. He understands the requirement, plans production with the floor, design and customer service teams, and commits realistic completion dates in advance so that dispatch and operations can book transport and installation on time.

Key responsibilities

1.     Understand the requirement

•       Receive each confirmed order from the Customer Service Executive with drawings, quantities, site details and the customer's deadline.
•       Study design files, sizes, materials, finishes and lighting; raise gaps or feasibility issues before production starts.
•       Work with the Design team to finalise production drawings, cutting files and the bill of materials.

2.     Explain and plan production

•       Break each job into stages: fabrication, cutting/routing, printing, acrylic and ACP work, LED and wiring, painting/powder coating, assembly, testing and packing.
•       Hold a daily planning huddle with the floor team; explain each job, assign people and machines, and set daily targets.
•       Keep a production schedule for all open jobs and re-plan when priorities change.
•       Identify outsourced work (laser cutting, bending, special prints) and get it ordered on time.

3.     Material and stock

•       Check material availability against the bill of materials before committing dates.
•       Raise purchase requirements early; track inward material and flag shortages.
•       Control wastage and offcut usage.

4.     Commit dates in advance

•       Give a firm ready-for-dispatch date for every job within 24 hours of receiving the final design.
•       Share a rolling weekly plan with Dispatch and Operations so they can book transport and installation teams.
•       Inform CS, Dispatch and Operations immediately if any date is at risk, with a revised date and reason.

5.     Quality, packing and handover

•       Check every job against drawing and specification before packing; test all illuminated signs.
•       Ensure safe, labelled packing (job no., site, piece count, fragile marks) suited to the transport mode.
•       Hand over to Dispatch with a packing list and checklist, signed off by both.

6.     Team and factory

•       Lead, train and discipline floor staff; maintain attendance and overtime records.
•       Ensure machine upkeep, housekeeping and safety on the floor.
•       Share daily progress and a weekly report with management.
