Job SummaryWe are looking for a technically strong and responsible Mechanical Draftsman cum Procurement Engineer to handle mechanical drafting, drawing preparation, BOM development, material identification, vendor development, quotation comparison, and procurement activities.

The candidate should have good knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication, machining, jigs & fixtures, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with production, quality, vendors, and customers.

• Key Responsibilities1. Mechanical Drafting & EngineeringPrepare and modify 2D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Prepare detailed part drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Develop drawings from customer drawings, samples, sketches and engineering inputs.
• Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and material specifications.
• Identify material grades, surface treatments, heat treatment and manufacturing processes from drawings/specifications.
• Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Support development of jigs, fixtures, tools, brackets, fabricated and machined components.
• 2. Procurement ActivitiesStudy drawings/BOM and identify required raw materials, bought-out components and subcontract processes.
• Prepare and send RFQs to suitable suppliers/vendors.
• Obtain and compare vendor quotations on price, quality, delivery and technical compliance.
• Negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing and delivery schedules.
• Prepare purchase requirements and coordinate for PO generation.
• Follow up with vendors for material/component delivery.
• Coordinate with stores, production and quality for incoming material inspection and acceptance.
• Develop and maintain a reliable vendor/supplier database.
• Identify alternate suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
• 3. Technical ProcurementUnderstand materials such as MS, SS, EN-series steels, alloy steels, aluminium, engineering plastics, etc.
• Understand machining processes such as CNC turning, CNC milling, VMC, grinding, drilling, fabrication, laser cutting, bending and welding.
• Coordinate subcontract processes including heat treatment, plating, black oxide, anodizing, painting and other surface treatments.
• Verify vendor quotations against drawings and specifications.
• Ensure procurement is made strictly as per approved drawing/specification and required revision.
• 4. Coordination & DocumentationCoordinate between Design/Engineering, Purchase, Production, Quality and Stores.
• Maintain RFQ, quotation comparison, purchase and delivery tracking records.
• Prepare Material Requirement Lists, BOMs and procurement schedules.
• Maintain proper documentation for revisions and changes.
• Support cost estimation and quotation preparation whenever required.
• Required Technical SkillsGood knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Drawing and GD&T basics.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of SolidWorks/Creo/Inventor will be an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings.
• Good knowledge of engineering materials and material grades.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication and finishing processes.
• Understanding of tolerances, fits, surface finish and basic inspection requirements.
• Good MS Excel skills for BOMs, quotation comparison and procurement tracking.
• Ability to evaluate technical as well as commercial aspects of vendor quotations.
• Desired Candidate ProfileDiploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, drafting, procurement or manufacturing.
• Experience in machining, fabrication, jigs & fixtures or precision engineering will be preferred.
• Good communication and vendor coordination skills.
• Strong follow-up capability and commercial awareness.
• Ability to work independently and meet delivery commitments.
• Willingness to learn and handle both engineering and procurement responsibilities.

Salary₹15,000 onwards depending on experience, technical competency and suitability.
