What You Need to Know About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong backend expertise in Java/J2EE, Node.js, or Python, along with proficiency in TypeScript and React.

You'll join Sales Technology, the engineering team behind the Salesforce platform and tools that support PayPal's global sales organization. We own the systems used every day by Sales, Partner, and Revenue Operations teams.
Our roadmap is driven by meaningful business outcomes - faster approval cycles, reduced manual effort, cleaner data, and simpler, more connected tools.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
• Advises immediate management on project-level issues
• Guides junior engineers
• Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
• Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable web applications.

• Build robust backend services, APIs, and integrations using Java/J2EE, Node.js, or Python.

• Develop responsive and reusable front-end components using TypeScript, React.js, and/or Next.js.

• Deliver complete solutions across the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.

• Make sound technical decisions based on internal engineering standards and industry best practices.

• Solve complex technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement of our applications and development practices.

Your Day-to-Day

Backend Development

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable backend applications using Java/J2EE, Node.js, or Python.

• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations with internal and external systems.

• Implement robust business logic using appropriate frameworks and design patterns.

• Work with relational and NoSQL databases.

• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.

• Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

• Contribute to automated testing, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support.

Front-End Development

• Design and implement scalable, responsive user interfaces using TypeScript, React.js, and/or Next.js.

• Develop reusable front-end components and integrate them with backend APIs.

• Optimize front-end code for performance, accessibility, browser compatibility, and maintainability.

Collaboration and Agile Development

• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, QA Engineers, DevOps teams, and other technology partners.

• Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and technical discussions.

• Work effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders across the organization.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Author high-level technical and solution design diagrams.

• Use AI-assisted development tools, MCPs, and AI applications where appropriate to improve engineering productivity.

What You Need to Bring

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 7+ years preferred, including significant experience in backend and full-stack application development.

• Strong professional experience in at least one backend technology: Java/J2EE, Node.js, or Python.

• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable, responsive user interfaces using TypeScript, React.js, and/or Next.js.

• Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of software design principles, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.

• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile development practices.

• Understanding of application security, performance, scalability, and observability.

• Ability to understand unfamiliar frameworks and technologies and apply them effectively.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver solutions with limited day-to-day supervision.

• Experience with Spring Boot, OpenAPI/Swagger, Redis, TestNG, MCPs, or AI application development is an added advantage.

• Experience building AI agents and deploying and operating them in production cloud environments is a plus.
