Technical Business Analyst I
Swiss ReJob Description
Technical Business Analyst I
Technical Business Analyst I – Life & Health Re
Are you passionate about shaping the future of AI-driven reinsurance solutions? Do you thrive at the intersection of business strategy, data, and technology? If you're a detail-oriented problem-solver who loves translating complex challenges into clear, actionable outcomes — this role was made for you.
About the Role
At Swiss Re, we're on an exciting journey to embed AI-driven capabilities across Life & Health (L&H) Reinsurance operations — and we need a sharp, curious, and collaborative Technical Business Analyst to help us get there. You'll sit at the heart of our AI transformation, acting as the critical bridge between L&H business stakeholders, AI/data teams, and technology delivery. From shaping requirements and defining MVPs to ensuring quality and validating outcomes, your work will directly influence how AI-enabled analytics and decision-support products come to life — and how much our business trusts and adopts them.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Product Shaping
Build and nurture trusted relationships with internal L&H business partners across underwriting, in-force management, operations, and actuarial functions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to brainstorm ideas, shape use cases, and define MVP scope aligned with the long-term AI product vision.
Capture and document complex business requirements, translating them into clear, actionable functional and non-functional specifications.
Ensure requirements reflect business value, usability, and operational realities at every stage of delivery.
Data & AI Enablement
Analyze business problems using data-driven approaches, leveraging SQL-based analysis where required.
Translate business requirements into actionable insights through structured analytical thinking and data analysis.
Partner closely with AI and data teams to ensure model outputs, recommendations, and reasoning align with business expectations.
Support validation of AI-enabled insights, dashboards, and workflows from a business and functional perspective.
Quality Assurance & Testing
Define and execute functional test scenarios for data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
Lead UAT and functional testing, ensuring solutions meet agreed business requirements before go-live.
Analyze functional defects, identify root causes, and collaborate with delivery teams to propose effective solutions.
Drive high-quality releases through structured test planning and rigorous execution.
Delivery & Production Support
Step up during peak cycles, demonstrating flexibility and dependability to meet critical deadlines.
Support defect resolution, production incident analysis, and problem management.
Participate in go-live readiness activities, including validation, sign-offs, and post-go-live support.
Serve as the business-facing point of contact during early production usage, ensuring adoption, stability, and user confidence.
About the Team
The L&H Re team is Swiss Re's global Life & Health Reinsurance Engineering team, responsible for the technical architecture and engineering of IT solutions for our Reinsurance business unit. We are a team of passionate technologists and domain experts who build enterprise-grade products with a deep understanding of the reinsurance business. Collaboration is at our core — we work closely with colleagues and teams around the globe to share knowledge, co-create solutions, and drive meaningful outcomes.
Joining our team means more than just delivering great technology. Over time, you'll gain a broad view of the architecture and engineering of a global reinsurer, develop a comprehensive understanding of the people, systems, and processes that shape business outcomes, and build an excellent foundation for your next career step — whether that's closer to operational business activities or deeper into technical leadership.
Right now, we're embarking on a strategic initiative to build and deliver AI-driven capabilities across end-to-end L&H operations and in-force management. Leveraging Swiss Re's rich global data foundation and enterprise business applications, this initiative aims to:
Enable continuous monitoring of L&H portfolio performance
Deliver actionable insights and AI-driven recommendations
Embed reasoning-enabled workflows into business processes
Ensure solutions are robust, trusted, and fit for a regulated environment
About You
You are a curious, structured, and quality-obsessed professional who loves making sense of complexity. You bring a strong analytical mindset, a passion for getting things right, and the communication skills to bring both technical and business audiences along on the journey. You're comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional agile teams and you take pride in delivering solutions that are not just functional — but trusted.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
3–4 years of hands-on experience in business analysis, product analysis, or data analysis, with a strong quality assurance and functional testing background.
Proven SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and investigation of complex data environments.
Life & Health insurance or reinsurance domain experience, with the ability to understand and navigate business processes such as underwriting, in-force management, and actuarial workflows.
Demonstrated experience in functional testing and UAT within complex data, analytics, or technology solutions, including defect analysis and root cause identification.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences and translate business needs into precise specifications.
These are additional nice to haves:
Experience supporting AI-driven decision support or monitoring solutions, including familiarity with AI/GenAI concepts and prompt engineering.
Exposure to in-force management, portfolio analytics, or underwriting workflows within a reinsurance or insurance context.
Familiarity with model governance, explainability, or regulatory expectations in a data or AI context.
Experience working in large, global enterprise environments with cross-functional, distributed teams.
Background in agile delivery methodologies and experience contributing to agile ceremonies and sprint-based delivery.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
