Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced CNC Operator who can run CNC machines independently for standard and medium-difficulty jobs. You will set tool offsets, make small program edits within defined limits, perform your own first-piece and in-process inspections, and guide junior operators on your shift. This is the middle step of our CNC career ladder, with a defined path to CNC Operator 3 (senior operator / programmer) and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently operate CNC machines for standard/medium-difficulty jobs and meet shift output targets
  • Set tool offsets and make minor program edits within limits defined by the CNC Setter
  • Perform tool changes, monitor tool wear, and select appropriate tooling
  • Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, and height gauge; record all readings
  • Monitor size drift during production runs and correct offsets within set limits
  • Hold and flag doubtful parts or lots to QC/Setter - never pass on bad parts
  • Perform daily machine care (oil, coolant, and air checks) and maintain 5S standards
  • Guide and support junior CNC Operator 1 staff in loading, basic checks, and safe working practices
  • Maintain accurate production logs and quality records every shift


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: ITI (Machinist / Turner) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on CNC machine operation
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and basic GD&T
  • Competence in basic program editing and offset/tool corrections
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments: Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge
  • Good to have: Fanuc / Siemens control familiarity; basic SPC and quality-records knowledge; basic machine maintenance skills

Reporting
