JOB DESCRIPTION – EDM OPERATORPosition: EDM Operator

Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled and responsible EDM Operator to operate EDM machines for precision machining of components, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other engineering parts. The candidate should be able to understand engineering drawings, set up jobs, operate the machine safely, and maintain required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

1. Key ResponsibilitiesOperate EDM Wire Cut and EDM Spark Erosion machines as per production requirements.
2. Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and work instructions.
3. Perform machine setting, job loading, alignment, and workpiece positioning.
4. Select appropriate machining parameters based on material, thickness, and required accuracy.
5. Carry out wire threading, flushing, offset setting, and machining operations.
6. Check components during and after machining using measuring instruments such as:

• Vernier Caliper
• Micrometer
• Height Gauge
• Bore Gauge
• Dial Gauge

1. Maintain required dimensional accuracy, profile accuracy, and surface finish.
2. Identify machining defects, wire breakage, abnormal sparks, poor flushing, and other machine problems.
3. Make necessary machine parameter adjustments to achieve the required output.
4. Follow production schedules and complete jobs within the planned time.
5. Maintain proper job identification, inspection records, production records, and machine log sheets.
6. Coordinate with the Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Maintenance teams.
7. Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine operator-level maintenance.
8. Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and 5S practices.
9. Minimize material wastage, electrode/wire consumption, machine downtime, and rejection.
10. Report machine breakdowns, quality issues, and material shortages to the supervisor immediately.

• Required SkillsKnowledge of EDM Wire Cut / EDM Spark Erosion operations
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of measuring instruments
• Knowledge of machining parameters and offsets
• Ability to identify machining and quality problems
• Basic computer knowledge for production records
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Educational QualificationITI / Diploma in:

• Tool & Die Making
• Fitter
• Machinist
• Mechanical
• Related technical trades

ExperienceFreshers: ITI candidates with relevant technical knowledge may be considered.

Experienced Candidates: 1–5 years of experience in EDM Wire Cut / EDM Spark machining is preferred.
