About Realtime Biometrics Realtime Biometrics India Pvt. Ltd. is a technology company specializing in biometric attendance, access control, HRMS, and workforce management solutions. Our software platform integrates with a large number of biometric devices and handles device communication, attendance transactions, employee management, and HRMS operations.
We are looking for an experienced Senior .NET Developer / Technical Lead who can take ownership of our existing software platform and help us evolve it into a scalable, reliable, high-performance architecture capable of supporting a growing number of biometric devices and high-volume transactions.
About the RoleThe selected candidate will work on our existing C#, .NET, ASP.NET Web Forms and SQL Server-based HRMS application, which is integrated with biometric devices through TCP/IP communication.
The current system is operational, but device communication and the HRMS application are closely integrated. During periods of high device traffic, communication processes can consume significant server and database resources, which may affect the performance of the HRMS application.
The Technical Lead will be responsible for understanding the existing architecture, identifying performance bottlenecks, and gradually designing and implementing a more scalable architecture.
A key part of this role will be to separate biometric device communication and transaction processing from the core HRMS application by developing independent background services, APIs, and message-based processing components.
Key Responsibilities
1. Existing Application & Codebase
- Understand, maintain, and enhance the existing ASP.NET Web Forms application.
- Analyze existing C#/.NET code and understand business logic and system dependencies.
- Work with a large and established codebase without disrupting existing functionality.
- Debug and resolve complex production and application-level issues.
- Identify technical debt and recommend improvements.
2. Biometric Device Communication
- Understand existing biometric device communication mechanisms.
- Work with TCP/IP, persistent connections, sockets, HTTP/HTTPS, and device-level communication.
- Analyze high-volume biometric transaction processing.
- Identify communication, server, and database bottlenecks.
- Design independent services for biometric device communication and transaction processing.
- Ensure reliable communication with a large number of biometric devices.
3. System Architecture & Scalability
- Analyze the current architecture and identify scalability limitations.
- Design and implement a more modular, scalable, and reliable architecture.
- Gradually separate device communication from the core HRMS application.
- Develop independent background processing/device communication services.
- Implement asynchronous and distributed processing where appropriate.
- Design systems capable of handling increasing device connections and transaction volumes.
- Evaluate and implement suitable architectural patterns such as service-based and microservice-oriented approaches.
4. Backend & API Development
- Design and develop RESTful APIs.
- Develop APIs for communication between different application components.
- Implement secure and reliable service-to-service communication.
- Develop background workers and processing services.
- Implement asynchronous programming and multithreading where required.
5. Database & Performance Optimization
- Design, optimize, and maintain SQL Server databases.
- Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and transactions.
- Identify database bottlenecks caused by high-volume biometric transactions.
- Improve database performance and reliability.
- Implement appropriate indexing, query optimization, connection management, and data-processing strategies.
- Work on database scalability and high-volume transaction handling.
6. Caching & Message-Based Processing
- Identify areas where caching can improve system performance.
- Implement caching solutions such as Redis where appropriate.
- Evaluate and implement message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Design asynchronous message-based transaction processing.
- Ensure reliable processing and minimize dependency between system components.
7. Reliability, Monitoring & Security
- Implement proper logging, exception handling, and error recovery.
- Design systems with fault tolerance and reliability in mind.
- Implement monitoring and troubleshooting mechanisms.
- Ensure secure communication between application components.
- Follow secure coding and API development practices.
- Support production deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
8. Testing & Deployment
- Perform application and service-level testing.
- Conduct load and stress testing for high-volume device communication.
- Identify performance issues before production deployment.
- Support deployment and production releases.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide permanent technical solutions.
9. Technical Leadership
- Take ownership of the technical implementation and architecture.
- Guide junior and mid-level developers when required.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain coding standards.
- Participate in technical discussions and architecture decisions.
- Prepare technical documentation and system architecture documentation.
- Plan and execute gradual modernization of the existing platform.
- Work closely with management and other technical teams to deliver product improvements.

- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience working with large and existing codebases.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience with asynchronous programming.
- Understanding of TCP/IP communication and networking concepts.
- Experience developing backend services.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Strong experience in application and database performance optimization.
- Good understanding of software architecture and design principles.
- Ability to independently analyze technical problems and implement solutions.
