We invite you to bring your knowledge of airports planning into play as our Lead Airport Planner to to
support planning, capacity analysis, and development of domestic and international airport projects. The
role involves preparation of airport master plans, terminal and airside planning studies, simulation
analysis, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and future-ready airport
solutions.
The Airport Planner will contribute to strategic and operational planning across the full airport lifecycle,
supporting clients, regulators, and stakeholders with data-driven, sustainable planning solutions. Airport
Planner will support the planning and design of airport infrastructure projects across greenfield,brownfield, expansion, and redevelopment assignments. The role is focused on delivering consultancy services in airport master planning, terminal planning, airfield and landside planning, capacity analysis, traffic forecasting, phasing strategies, and development planning in line with client requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.

As our new Lead  Airport Planner, you will be part of a committed, performance driven team within Ramboll India. The successful candidate will contribute to safe, compliant, and operationally efficient airport planning solutions aligned with ICAO and local regulatory requirements.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
Airport & Terminal Planning

  •  Support development of airport master plans, expansion studies, and feasibility assessments, Prepare terminal planning concepts including passenger processing, space standards, and functional layouts.
  • Develop airside planning inputs including runway, taxiway, apron, and stand planning.
  • Support landside, curbside, and landside access planning as required Capacity Analysis & Modelling
  • Undertake airside and terminal capacity analysis in line with ICAO and IATA methodologies
  • Prepare demand forecasts, peak hour assessments, and traffic scenarios
  • Support passenger and baggage flow analysis using spreadsheets, simulation, or specialist planning tools Standards & Compliance
  • Apply ICAO, IATA ADRM, DGCA, ACI, and relevant international planning standards
  • Support preparation of planning reports, compliance matrices, and technical documentation
  • Coordinate authority and client comments during planning and approval stages


Multidisciplinary Coordination Confidential

  • Coordinate planning inputs with airside, terminal engineering, systems, sustainability, and operations teams
  • Support design coordination workshops and planning reviews
  • Interface with clients, airport operators, and other stakeholders under guidance of senior planners Project & Business Support
  • Support preparation of planning deliverables, drawings, presentations, and reports
  • Contribute to bid and proposal submissions with planning narratives and technical inputs
  • Support continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability-led planning approaches

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Airport Planning/ Aviation Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated 15+ years’ experience in airport planning, airport design, aviation consultancy, or infrastructure planning projects.
  • Strong understanding of airport master planning principles, terminal planning processes, and airside/landside planning interfaces.
  • Experience in demand forecasting, capacity analysis, area planning, and development phasing for airport facilities.
  • Knowledge of international and regional planning standards, including ICAO, IATA, FAA, and applicable local aviation regulations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, manage deadlines, and coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Should have experience in medium to large commercial airport design preferably EPC projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and airport planning/drawing tools.
  • Familiarity with airport simulation and analytical tools such as AviPlan, CAST, ArcPORT, SIMMOD, or equivalent is desirable.
  • Strong capability in data analysis, report preparation, and visual presentation of planning outputs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills
