Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Surveillance & Data Tracking: Collect, tabulate, and analyze daily data on hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) such as CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP/VAE, and surgical site infections (SSIs) in coordination with microbiology departments.
- Audits & Compliance: Conduct regular clinical rounds and facility audits covering hand hygiene compliance, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, isolation precautions, sterilization (CSSD/OT), and biomedical waste management
- Outbreak Investigation: Identify infection clusters or unusual spikes, trace epidemiological links, and assist with Root Cause Analysis
- Staff & Patient Education: Train new hires during orientation, mentor clinical and housekeeping staff on aseptic techniques, and provide guidance to patients and families.
- Policy & Committee Support: Help develop and update infection control manuals/protocols, organize Infection Control Committee (HICC) meetings, and maintain records for accreditation bodies (e.g., NABH or local standards).
- Occupational Health & Safety: Monitor needle-stick injuries, employee exposure incidents, and staff vaccination/immunization records
